Ian has successfully represented a number of trainee teachers at NQT induction appeals before the GTC / NCTL, and provides training on the new framework for NQT and teacher conduct appeals.
 
Other areas of work include exclusion appeals and special needs tribunals, pupil discipline, governors, school finance & property, free schools and academies,  SEN  & disability, awards & grants, and Ombudsman complaints.
 
Ian appears regularly on BBC TV & radio and in the national press to comment about school appeals and the admissions system.
 
Ian also undertakes a wide range of other direct access work (usually for a fixed fee), as well as accepting instructions from solicitors.  This includes providing advice, drafting documents and attending hearings at all levels of courts, tribunals and appeal panels.
As a school governor, Ian has hands-on experience of many of the issues facing governing bodies and can give practical legal advice to schools, local authorities, Diocesan bodies and parents.
